- Application
Scald Protection Valves safeguard personnel from dangerously high water temperatures caused by solar radiation, steam, or electric tracing. When installed in safety showers, eyewash stations, or other points exposed to the same heat sources as the system, the valve responds to overheating by opening to allow flow, rapidly relieving overtemperature water. Once safe temperatures are restored, the valve modulates closed, ensuring continuous protection without interrupting system operation.
Operation
The scald protection valve will initiate flow when the thermostatic actuator senses 41°C (105°F) and will remain open as long as the discharge water temperature is above 35°C (95°F).
In standard flow, the actuator will sense water temperature; in reverseflow, the actuator will sense ambient temperature to initiateflow and then respond to water temperature;
